If you’re concerned about the little details and keeping things tidy and organized, you’re just the person we want to speak to for this role! The Site Coordinator helps to ensure our participants have an enjoyable experience on the day, and that the site is accessible and enjoyable for all. You will support the Committee with running logistics on the day of event, ensuring balloons and tents are in the right place!
Being part of the Committee is ideal for people looking to get more involved with the MS Society and who wish to enhance or share their existing skills and experience. MS Walks are our largest fundraising events across Canada and are only possible with the support of our AMAZING volunteers!
Responsibilities:
• Reviewing and revising the site set up map
• Confirming equipment and site signage needs with other committee members
• Coordinating event equipment
• Work with MS Staff to ensure the committee have all necessary supplies
• Directing and supporting site Event Day volunteers in set up and take down of site tents, tables, chairs, signage, finish line, PA system and music, etc.
• Coordinating celebratory start/finish line area
• Sourcing extra event equipment
• Coordinator will receive direction from, and liaise with, the Chair.
• Coordinator will interact extensively with other organizing committee members, staff liaison, event day volunteers, participants and members of the community.
• Must be comfortable making decisions and problem solving with limited supervision.
Required Skills/Experience:
• Positive attitude and friendly demeanor
• Experience of managing people is valued but not essential
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational and customer service skills
• Basic computer proficiency including email, internet searches, Word, Excel
• Self-motivated and reliable; able to fulfill duties on time
• Passion for funding MS research and supporting the MS Community
Time Requirements:
• Attend 1.5hr monthly committee meetings from December through June
• Onsite for the event weekend
• Hours will increase closer to event
